The best real estate projects of 2022 in Lithuania were announced and awarded during the solemn ceremony of Competition “For Sustainable Development” held in Vilnius on Wednesday. The selections of the best real estate projects have been organized by the Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association (LNTPA) and the Academy of Sustainable Development for 15 years already.
Project “Matau Vilnių” implemented by Real Estate Development Company “YIT Lietuva” was recognized as the best project in the residential category. Kaunas County Police Headquarters built by Company “Merko statyba” was awarded as the best public project. The newly revived famous Hotel and Restaurant “Neringa” became the winner in the commercial real estate category. “Merko statyba” was responsible for the reconstruction.
Project “Viešnagė” in Palanga implemented by Company “Hanika”, operating as a member of Company Croup “Lumont”, has been recognized as a project of the future. The public voted on the delfi.lt portal for the co-living and co-working project “Chapters”, which was developed by Real Estate Company “Baltic Asset Management”.
When evaluating the projects participating in the Competition, Mindaugas Statulevičius, the Head of LNTPA and the Chairman of the Commission for Competition “For Sustainable Development”, repeatedly emphasized the extremely high quality standards of the projects and the elevated competence levels among the builders, progress and sense of responsibility. However, according to the Chairman of the Commission, this year the level has already been reached where real estate developers allow themselves to compete with themselves:
“There are projects where the implementation bar has been set much higher than what the customers themselves expect. There is a maximum aspiration to create a safe, sustainable living environment inviting the project residents to gather into active communities, respond to their needs and lifestyle. We want to emphasize the developers’ respect for the preservation of heritage and the historical uniqueness of the buildings, thus creating added value for the projects”, M. Statulevičius, the President of LNTPA says.
Competition “For Sustainable Development” received 16 applications for real estate projects this year: 6 residential projects, 2 public/commercial projects, 2 recreation/hotel projects, and 6 projects sought the Project of the Future prize. The geography of the projects participating in the Competition included Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Palanga.
The contestants were evaluated by a commission of 9 members, which was formed of the representatives of the Lithuanian Union of Architects, Lithuanian Construction Association, banks, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Ministry of Environment, Vilnius City Municipality, Lithuanian Real Estate Development Association, and the media.
